Notes
Written for fic_promptly for 'they don't love you like I love you'. We know next to nothing about Frederick, and we don't know what their relationship is like but man I kinda want them to be toxic. Yes, Luci could use a good friend, but I do enjoy some toxicity. And watching my favs cry.
Title is from Rule #34 by Fish in a Birdcage.
There was something calming about the way Frederick touched him. Warm fingers caressing his skin, every kiss pressed to his body, every touch, firm, unwavering. Like he was sure that this was exactly what he wanted to do, where he wanted to be.
It made him feel a little less alone.
He felt Frederick trace the ropes wrapped around his body, fingers hooking into them to pull him closer. He was at his mercy now, giving away every ounce of control he still had left, at least for one evening. For one evening, he wanted to let go of it all, let someone else be in control.
“I can’t believe Lilith threw all this away.”
Frederick’s voice was smooth in his ear, making him shudder, even as a sharp pang of pain ran through his heart at the words.
“She never knew how to appreciate all that you are.”
Lucifer shook his head, wanted to protest, but his mouth was full, the gag fastened tightly at the nape of his neck. Even if their marriage had been fraying at the seams for years, even if he was uncertain about where they stood now, she had been there for him, for so long.
But dark thoughts swirled in his mind, around and around in his brain, just barely loud enough to be unable to ignore.
What if he was right?
“And Charlie, dear, precious Charlie. She hasn’t reached out to you in years. Has she contacted you even once since Lilith left?”
Frederick pressed a kiss to the center of the gag, making Lucifer long for his lips on his skin, even as his words made him want to cry. He was right, Charlie hadn’t called, nor had she visited. But he barely had either, it was his fault much more than it was hers.
She doesn’t need you, his thoughts whispered. She doesn’t want you. Neither of them do.
He shook his head again, harder this time. He didn’t want to think about that.
“And where have Asmodeus, Satan, the rest of them been? I’d have expected them to storm over here as soon as they learned that Lilith abandoned you.”
No. No, she didn’t abandon him. She’d just gone away for a while, to… He didn’t know where she was, but he was sure it was important. Much more important than staying here. Than him. And the Sins, his friends, sure they hadn’t come, but they had called. Maybe not often, but they had. At least some of them.
They just see you as a burden. Calling is nothing but an obligation. Why else wouldn’t they have been here in person?
He felt tears prick his eyes, his head hanging low, eyes cast down where he hung, suspended in the air by Frederick’s green ropes.
Frederick’s hands pushed his hair out of his face, lifting his head with a hand underneath his chin, grip firm.
“I’m sorry, Lu. I’m sorry that they don’t cherish you. That they don’t love you the way I do. But don’t you worry about a thing. I’m not going anywhere.”
You’re lucky to have him, the thoughts whispered in his mind. To have someone who truly loves you, every ugly part of you.
A kiss was pressed to his temple, to his eyelids. Frederick’s lips took his tears away, and when he pulled back, Lucifer watched him lick his lips, a soft smile making them part.
Even the unloveable parts.
He was lucky that Frederick had come to him, as soon as he told him that Lilith was gone. He was so tired of being alone.
Frederick’s hands caressed his skin, firm and warm. Each kiss to his face made him yearn for more. For someone to touch him in a way that mattered, that told him he was worthy of their attention, of them staying.
He moaned through the gag as Frederick’s fingers found his nipple, pulling, twisting. The pain made his claws dig into his palms, his hooves pressing harder against his ass.
He could hear Frederick laugh.
“I love you Luci,” he whispered in his ear, lips brushing the burnt, twisted remains of the shivering bones that had once been his ears. His real ears, before he fell, the ones he kept hidden. “I’ll never abandon you. Trust me.”
Lucifer believed him. He did. He knew he loved him. He’d been the only one truly there for him in the months since Lilith left.
As Frederick’s touches travelled down his body, a shiver ran down his spine.
Frederick’s lips kissed a trail his hands followed, down his chest. His teeth left marks on his skin, and Lucifer wished they had been strong enough to break it.
He felt Frederick’s breath on the head of his cock as he spoke, making him groan in anticipation.
“I’ll take care of you. For as long as you need me to.”
In the meantime, he would do anything he wanted to Lucifer; to his body, to his mind, to his soul.
And Lucifer knew that he would let him.
Frederick loved him after all, when no one else could stand to.
